Summer is in full swing (enough with the rain), and there’s no better time to enjoy all that the Waconia area has to offer. Outdoor adventures, family-friendly activities, relaxing, there’s something for everyone. Here are a few suggestions to make the most of summer:
- Fireworks at Lake Waconia July 4th at dusk. Lake Waconia is the perfect spot for a summer day out. Pack a picnic, rent a paddleboard, or lounge on the beach. Don’t forget to check out the fishing opportunities or take a leisurely boat ride to appreciate the beautiful scenery.
- Waconia Baseball Don’t miss out on the excitement of a local baseball game. Head to Lions Field to catch the Waconia Lakers in action. It’s a fantastic way to spend an evening with family and friends. And don’t miss the 1860’s Vintage Baseball Game in August at Andrew Peterson Farm.
- Local Wineries, Breweries, & Distillery Waconia is home to fantastic wineries, breweries, and a distillery. Take a tour, enjoy a tasting, and learn about the local craft. It’s a great way to spend an afternoon with friends or family. A couple annual events not to miss this summer:
Art Stock Art, Wine, & Music Festival Art Stock is a 2-day art & music festival on July 13 & 14. In addition to the artist booths and the picturesque, vineyard/orchard setting, live music fills the air both days enhancing this wonderful, summertime experience.
Waconia Wine Festival The Waconia Wine Festival is a two-day festival featuring three distinctive vineyards within a 5-mile radius of each other. This festival is the perfect opportunity to visit some of the best wineries in the state of Minnesota with the opportunity to taste, explore, and enjoy a variety of wine.
4. Discover Unique Shops and Eateries Take a stroll through downtown Waconia and explore the unique shops and eateries. From boutique stores to cozy cafes, there’s something for everyone. It’s a great way to spend a leisurely afternoon. Speaking of eating, did we mention Rib Fest yet? Save the date for July 20. Also, mark your calendar for the retail committee’s new event: Sip, Shop & Stroll on Thursday, July 25.
5. Attend a Summer Concert – Keep an eye on our events calendar for upcoming concerts and community events. Also visit the City of Waconia calendar for Music in the Street series. Plus, the Carver County Fair has a great lineup of music this year, August 7-11. And please join us on August 22 for the Paradise Beach Bash at Lake Waconia Regional Park featuring a local favorite band, Ragtown.
6. Golf at Island View Golf Club We’re getting ready to Rewind to the 1980’s at the 18th Annual Chamber Golf Scramble, held at beautiful Island View Golf Club. If you’re not already set to golf, you’re invited to join us at the 19th Hole BBQ following the round on July 15. Also, watch for the silent auction link coming soon. Proceeds support the operations and programming of the chamber.
